My name is Kevin T. Chang. I am trained in neuroscience and evolutionary biology, with specific interests in neurodegenerative disease, memory, and medicine. I joined the Sardiello Lab in 2014 as a freshman at Rice University in order to learn more about Lysosomal Storage Diseases and protein investigation.
I am currently working on novel research in amino acid analyses using evolutionary principles, which yielded Aminode, a novel database for Evolutionary Constrained Amino Acid Analyses. This research was published in January 2018. In the lab, I assist in the ongoing fight against Neuronal Ceroid Lipofuscinoses, specifically type 8. This research was published in November 2018. Previously, I served as an academic fellow for Lovett College, a head academic fellow for Rice University, and an EMT-B for Rice Emergency Medical Services.
